Game Over Custom Typeface

“The only winning move is not to play.” Artificial Intelligence is a revolutionary shift in the world. Will super-intelligent AI choose to work with or without us? This is the existential risk that inspires the name: Game Over. The Game Boy was my medium and the films War Games and the Matrix were my inspiration.

I started by creating a simple 8-bit typeface on an eight-by-eight grid. Then, I printed these letters large, projected an ultra-bright film projector light on them, and photographed each letter with a Game Boy camera. I printed the photos with a Game Boy Pocket printer, which uses thermal heat to create the image in a bit-mapped pattern. Finally, I scanned the prints and digitized the letter forms
