Overbite AW25
Overbite is a small brand based out of Brooklyn, New York designed and sewn by Theo Chhan. Their A/W ‘25 line reimagines a future centered in choice, by re-contextualizing work-wear silhouettes to be more gender expansive. Utilizing breathable, water-resistant and waterproof Japanese fabrics typically found in activewear and outdoor technical apparel, their work is both functional and expressive.
I created a series of logotype graphics and clothing tags for the collection and provided design consultation for the brand's website.
The clothing tag is inspired by Theo’s passion for up-cycling. The atelier aspect of their practice is one of one up-cycled and airbrushed pieces. The letterforms in their logo are sourced from tags found in vintage and thrifted garments.
I created animated logotypes for the beginning and end of the collection video. For the second one, I chose to simply export a gif of my process creating tag versions that didn’t get chosen for the line. Theo used a lot of fabric manipulation techniques in their design, so there is an inherent focus on process, imperfection and letting go. Including this screen-capture of all of the type lock ups that didn’t quite hit ended up hitting after all :) Full video below.
