NoDoz is an over-the-counter alertness aid. I conducted primary research and concept testing to discover what consumers thought about the current packaging. I interviewed six people between the ages of 25 and 70 years-old. I timed how quickly they were able to find critical information and surveyed their opinion of NoDoz as a product. Evidently, NoDoz has quite a reputation as a party drug and isn’t taken very seriously by many consumers. Some may be surprised to learn that each pill contains one cup-of-coffee’s worth of caffeine. Caffeine over-dosing isn’t necessarily life-threatening but it can cause severe anxiety attacks and rapid heartbeat. Student work.

The intent of this redesign is to draw consumers away from recreational use and overdoses, by making it inherently difficult to take more than one pill. The design takes inspiration from the Swedish style with a nod to Bauhaus.
